As anti-gun activists ramp up efforts to bankrupt the firearms industry through frivolous lawsuits, Palmetto Gun Rights is rallying South Carolina gun owners to support House Bill 4723, the South Carolina Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.
Sponsored by Rep. Chris Wooten, this legislation prohibits “qualified civil liability actions” that blame manufacturers and gun shops for the misuse of lawful products.
In recent years, civil liability cases against the industry have surged, driven by public nuisance claims and politically motivated litigation.
These suits aim not at justice but at crippling Second Amendment rights by draining resources and forcing business closures.
HB 4723 reinforces federal protections like the PLCAA, allowing legitimate claims for defects or negligence while blocking abusive tactics that undermine our constitutional freedoms.
Take Action Today
Palmetto Gun Rights fully endorses HB 4723, viewing it as essential to preserving access to firearms in the Palmetto State.
“We can’t let radical anti-gun activists legislate through the courts,” says Policy Director Dustin Curtis.
South Carolina gun owners can take action now by contacting the House Judiciary Committee today to demand passage and protect our rights!
