Gun owners in South Carolina just sent a loud and clear message: the Second Amendment is not negotiable.
In three special primary elections held last night, pro-gun candidates dominated the field, proving once again that grassroots gun rights activists still hold the power when they show up at the ballot box.
And it was a great night for gun rights.
Champion Lee Bright Wins Outright
In Senate District 12 (Greenville/Spartanburg), longtime Second Amendment champion Lee Bright stormed to victory, winning more than 50 percent of the vote outright in a three-way race.
That means no run-off and no Democrat challenger waiting in the wings.
Bright, who was endorsed by NAGR-PAC and turned in a 100 percent pro-gun candidate PGR survey, will return to the South Carolina State Senate as one of the strongest defenders of the right to keep and bear arms.
Lee Bright has spent years leading the fight for Constitutional Carry and standing firm against “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation. He’s never been afraid to stand up to political pressure, and gun owners across South Carolina know they can trust him to keep fighting for their freedoms.
Two Strong Contenders Advance in House District 21
In House District 21 (Greenville), both Dianne Mitchell and Steve Nail are advancing to the November 4 run-off after receiving the most votes in a four-way race.
Both candidates answered their PGR surveys 100 percent pro-gun.
That means no matter who wins the run-off, the Second Amendment will have a committed defender representing HD-21.
With no Democrat opposition in the general election, the run-off winner will be unopposed in December, locking in another pro-gun voice for South Carolina.
It’s proof that the grassroots are paying attention and that pro-gun pressure works.
A Crucial Runoff in House District 88
The other big race from last night’s primary is in House District 88 (Lexington), where John Lastinger is heading to a run-off against Brian Duncan, who refused to return his survey.
Lastinger returned his PGR survey 100% pro-gun while Duncan has yet to go on the record by returning his.
That run-off will be decided on November 4, with early voting running from October 29 to 31.
As of this writing, gun owners in HD-88 have a clear choice: stand with the candidate who has pledged to defend their rights, or risk sending another question mark to Columbia.
PGR and its members will continue working hard to ensure that gun owners’ voices are heard in this key race.
Grassroots Firepower Wins Elections
Last night’s primary built upon a historic 2024 election cycle that saw the strongest pro-gun candidates win up and down the ballot in South Carolina.
These results prove what South Carolina gun owners already know: when the grassroots mobilize, pro-gun candidates win and freedom advances.
Every candidate who stood tall for the Second Amendment either won outright or is moving forward, while most of those who dodged the survey were left behind.
P.S. Gun rights voters are the most reliable, informed, and fired-up force in South Carolina politics.
